There are occasions, I have to admit, when I long for the snuggly comfort of fluffy angora mittens, or the soft caress of lambswool socks. Around Christmas time, the weather here is usually quite breezy and the temperature has been known to drop to a chilly 72′F, so I suppose I could sign up, but, I’ll probably be a ‘closet’ member!

I wondered what to do with my angora mittens!
Last Christmas I got a fantastic pair from an artist friend: light blue with deep blue stiching and even deeper blue ostrich feathers and with plastic figures of cowboys on horses chasing – respectively – an American Indian brave and squaw – on the mittens wrists. I have worn them as much as weather in Atlanta allowed – they were a perfect enhancement to my deep blue wool jacket – and every time I’ve worn them, people noticed. So much so that at least one traffic accident was threatening when a driver in the next lane noticed my cowboy-native American warfare adorned hands prominently displayed on the wheel. I guess not many fifty-something, seemingly properly preppy dressed ladies would sport such attention grabbing mittens! Ha!
Now I know i should pack them and pass on to a new worthy owner. Expect them for Christmas, Heather – and if not them then at least a pair of lamswool socks that I am also packing for this purpose.
